Fluorescent brightener 24 contains a triazine group in its chemical structure. Fluorescent brightener 24 and brightener Triazinyl compound (4,4'-bis{[4,6-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino}stilbene-2,2' -disulfonic acid-disodium salt) has a similar chemical structure. The effects of bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)oxalate (TCPO), hydrogen peroxide, Triazinyl, base catalyst concentration and temperature on chemiluminescence were studied.
PO-CL reaction process
Peroxyoxalate chemiluminescence (PO-CL) reaction is one of the most efficient non-biological light producing systems. The mechanism of PO-CL process has been postulated to involve at least one highly energetic intermediate (possibly a dioxetame species) capable of exciting a fluorescent receptor molecule, as shown in the scheme.
Synthesis of fluorescer Triazinyl
· The method used for the synthesis of fluorescer Triazinyl involved a simplified work-up for the preparation of 4-nitrotoluene-2-sulfonic acid by the use of diethylene glycol instead of water in the preparation of 4,4-dinitrostilbene-2,2-disulfonic acid.
· The stock solution of brightener (0.001 M) was prepared in basic methanol and protected from light. Stock solutions of sodium salicylate, imidazol and 4-methylimidazol (0.01 M in MeOH) and the TCPO (0.01 M in ethyl acetate) were prepared shortly before use.
