1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride is an organic salt and a room-temperature ionic liquid. It may be used in the preparation of aluminum chloride-EMIC, zinc chloride-EMIC and EMIC /tetrafluoroborate molten salts, which are useful in electrodeposition studies.
