Environmentally harmful compounds such as dyes can be effectively removed from textile wastewater using oxidizing agents such as ozone. Acid red 361 is a dye widely used in the carpet industry that can be removed by ozone, which can be produced electrochemically. Ozone generation is achieved by coating the titanium electrode surface with a mixture of salts (tin, antimony and nickel) and carbon nanotubes via spin coating and pyrolysis methods.
· UV-visible techniques were used to confirm ozone production on bare and modified electrodes.
· The modified electrode was used to remove acid red 361 from the dye solution at a constant current density of 20 mA cm-2 for different times.
· As the contact time with ozone increases, the removal of acid red 361 from the solution increases. Electrolysis for dye degradation was performed within 30 minutes at an initial concentration of 100 ppm with an efficiency of 99%.
