Specification
In order to develop new hydrogel silver nanocomposites with greater applicability for antibacterial applications, poly(vinyl sulfonate sodium salt) (PVSA) has been used to prepare the hydrogel matrix in this antibacterial material.
Preparation PVSA-based hydrogels
· Add 0.10g PVSA sodium salt and 1mL TA (1g/100mL, 4.01×10-3mM) to a certain concentration of Acrylamide solution.
· Free radical crosslinking polymerization was carried out by adding 1 mL of ammonium persulphate (APS) (5 g/100 mL, 2.19×10-3 mM) and 1 mL of N,N,N',N0''-tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) (1 g/100 mL, 1.72×10-3 mM) as redox-initiating pair. To obtain a complete network throughout the hydrogel, the polymerization reaction was continued for 8 h.
· The formed hydrogel sample was taken out and washed with distilled water to remove unreacted monomer/polymer. PVSA-based hydrogel was obtained after drying treatment.
· By further adding silver ions and reducing silver ions to the hydrogel sample, an antibacterial composite material can be obtained.
