The Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor (UASB) system, which has anaerobic granules, is a biological method for processing textile wastewater. The simulated textile wastewater (STW) prepared by the three popular acid dyes (acid blue 204, acid red 131 and acid yellow 79) in the synthetic wastewater was studied for the decolorization and removal of degradable organic in the laboratory scale UASB system. Research indicates:
· It was over 89% in acid yellow 79 (AY79) dye containing STW under studied conditions.
· Treatment of STW prepared using AY79 showed 95% color removal owing to biodegradation. The acid blue 204 (AB204) has considerable resistance to biodegradation of anaerobic microorganisms.
· Acid red 131 (AR 131) and AY79 can be almost completely decolorized through the UASB reactor system, while AB204 cannot be decolorized because all color removal is attributed to the adsorption of dyes to microbial particles.
