Hydroboration of terminal and internal alkenes with N,N',N''-trimethylborazine (1,3,5-Trimethylborazine) at 50°C in the presence of rhodium(I) catalyst. The prepared borazine can be used as the precursor of borazine-based polymers and boron nitride ceramics or as the core skeleton of electroluminescent devices.
Hydroboration of typical alkenes with N-trimethylborazine
· A glass tube charged with N,N',N''-trimethylborazine (0.5 mmol), alkene (3 mmol), [RhCl(coe)2]2 (0.0075 mmol), t-Bu3P (0.033 mmol, P/Rh = 2.1) in toluene (0.5 ml) was sealed under argon atmosphere. The resulting mixture was stirred at 50 C for 24 h. The product was isolated by Kugelrohr distillation.
· The hydroboration of representative alkenes with N,N',N''-trimethylborazine (3a) in the presence of the [RhCl(coe)2]2/4t-Bu3P catalyst is shown in Table 4. The reactions of terminal and internal alkenes smoothly took place under the optimized conditions to selectively provide B-(n-alkyl)borazines (6b-e) in high yields (entries 1-10).
